Hello, Ishtaria! Before we get to the meat of this post, time for a little background. When the Know Your Units series was started, it was a weekly posting on Reddit. Looking back at those, we've come a long way. I tried the weekly thing for a while, but life eventually caught up with me. I'm not the type of person to skimp on quality to meet a deadline (I'm an engineer. Doing that in my field gets people killed.), so I announced that KYUs would be biweekly. The other reasons for that decision were to improve the quality of the posts as well as to possibly expand the 1-man army.
Are you with me so far? Did you fall asleep? DID YOU EVEN READ THE FIRST PARAGRAPH?!
Good. Let's continue.
For those that don't know, there are steps that engineers must take in order to get an engineering certification (PE Licensure). In the past couple of months, I've been working on preparing for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (don't let the name fool you; it's not fundamental at all). Doing all of this at the same time as keeping up with life, AoI events, and KYUs made me realize that it's time for another change.
"OK, ESDEATH, WHY DO I EVEN CARE?! YOUR PERSONAL LIFE IS THE LAST THING ON MY LIST OF THINGS I CARE ABOUT! WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH YOU GIVING ME WAIFUS?!"
Excellent question, angry and mentally unstable fan! I'll get right to my point. This isn't a post bearing bad news. Not even close. This is a brand new beginning. A new generation of KYUs. How? That's TBD.
The reason why it's TBD is because it's not directly my choice. I'll still be leading the Weeb-Waifu-Education Initiative (WWE for short), but I'm not planning on doing this alone anymore. I'm looking for at least 1 able-minded Otaku to join the Cause. With the mods' blessing and some elbow grease, these posts can be something that draws people to this community and compels them to stay (a lot of veteran players are leaving because they've lost interest). If you're interested in joining the team, message me on LINE (esdeathsenpai). I'll guage the interest of the community that way. You can also just message me with suggestions, even if you don't want to be personally involved with the posts. I'm not sure how many people we'll need; that's kinda why there's vague descriptions of my vision for these posts. We'll work together to figure this out. This is a community effort, after all. The KYUs don't exclusively belong to me, they belong to all Ishtarians. We may also be able to branch out, adding other forms of posts as well as KYUs.
All of that said, the KYU for Ara is being postponed until next time due to studying for that accursed exam. Instead, I'll be updating existing KYUs with information already provided by Baldini and the new versions released for Festival season.
