Hello, all you beautiful weeds! It's Monday once again, so it's time to get to Know Your Units. This week, we'll be looking into our first Fianna unit, Midack!
Before we begin, I'll give a shoutout to Ranix for kindly reminding me that you can't attempt to research a Fianna unit without researching Fianna itself. If you try to find info on Midack without looking at the big picture, you're gonna have a bad time. Without further ado, let's get to know about the "real" Midack.
Mythological Information
Midack (Miodach) is the son of High King Kolga (Colgan) of Norway. His story begins with the Norwegian attempt to conquer Ireland. The Irish defended themselves with their army, the Fianna Army. During the battle, Kolga is killed by Fionn's son Oscar.
After the smoke of battle cleared, Midack was still alive. Oscar spared him. Midack chose to live in Ireland. He was given a large tract of land (a whole town) to live on, probably due to his royal position in his homeland. This being an Irish myth, you know that Midack wouldn't just give up because they lost the battle. The son of Kolga had other plans: vengeance for his father's death. He had magic and his loyal followers on his side, but it wasn't enough. Fionn was OP, like so many heroes in these types of stories, and was magically able to call enough warriors to his aid to kill the group of Norwegian soldiers and Midack. It was Diarmuid who slayed Midack according to some versions of the tale.
In-Game Description
OG
A first year at the Fianna Academy, Midack is the Vice President of the Student Activities Committee. Dedicated to Kolga, she claims to be Anti Fianna Union, but many wonder if that's her, or her mentor talking... Isolating herself at school, Midack has yet to open up to her fellow classmates.
In light of the background information we've dug up on Midack, we can see that her devotion to Kolga is unwavering. Even the bonding moments she had with the other characters in Sports Daze, Kolga's influence will ultimately rule her actions. The Father/Son relationship between King Kolga and Miodach is presented in the form of President/VP of the Student Activities Committee.
Both her disdain for the Fianna Union and her unwillingness to trust her classmates is a parallel to Midack's (the prince of Norway) life after his father's death, living among his enemies and not trusting them. This hints at a comeback for the Kolga-Midack combo in a later installment in the game. Kolga will have her revenge for how she was soundly defeated in Sports Daze, and Midack will be the instrument she uses to do it.
Remix
A second year at the Fianna Academy, Midack is currently enrolled in the Training and Development Program. And although Kolga has already graduated, Midack continues on as the Vice President of the Student Activities Committee. Why is she not President? For her, she still needs to get stronger before filling those shoes...
A year older and a year wiser, Midack has remained in a subservient role on the Student Activities Committee. Like the Midack of Norway, the Ishtarian Midack refuses to take full control of Kolga's mantle until the time is right, which, in this case, is when she feels worthy. This tactic didn't work out so well for the Norwegian, but I have a feeling that the Ishtarian will have better results.
Skills of Note
From what I found, the skills are more of a gimmick that Silicon Studios gave Midack than a reference, especially since Midack in the legends fought with a spear.
Multi Skill- Twin Blazes
Multi Skill- Twin Terrors
Rush Skill- Fiery Furnace
Passive Skill- Voice of Dedication: With the release of Remixed Midack, we have a new skill that pertains to her character rather than her weapons. Midack's loyalty to Kolga has not diminished, only shifted. Rather than striving to be noticed by Kolga~Senpai, she aims to serve as Kolga's replacement... eventually. As we know, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."
Power Plays
Midack participates in only one confirmed Power Play: Sports Daze. This is an attack-boosting Power Play that applies to all Track Units.
The other is unconfirmed and features an assortment of units: Guna, Enki, Midack, Shana, Atra, Upier, Guna (Festival), Guna (Christmas). The list is seemingly a list of units all drawn by the artist Saeki Thoma.

OG
Midack is a girl dedicated to her training. Her body is covered in bandages, most likely applied quickly so she doesn't miss a second of training. Her outfit is more of a track suit than a reference to her mythology. She's always seen with her two fiery swords. In her evo'd form, they are colored, one blue and one red. Her eyes follow the same rule. Her swords are claymores, which are usually comically large in anime. In her base form, she wears her track suit like a normal person, but it's way too big. This is a trait shared by another character from an anime-esque game, IF from the Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise. Strangely, IF is also a dual-wielding blade user who also uses fire magic. The parallels are astounding. In her evo'd form, she goes full Yugioh, just like Kolga does in her base. This view also gives us a glance at her combat boots and gauntlets, which have steel on the outside. This is most likely a form of weight training to strengthen her legs and arms while also adding protection. It's also a good way to enhance her curb-stomping attacks for when Kolga gets her to kill people for her.
Remix
Remixed Midack is just epic. Like the other Remixed units, Midack is a reimagined version of her Original final form. The primary change between OG and Remix is the color of her jacket. It's a shift from blue to red, indicating her ascension to her second year. We know this to be true thanks to the description of Daire ("a second year novice"), mixed with her images.
The devs went out of their way to depict Midack as a young girl. Her description says she's a First Year, but she also has the bone structure of a child, way too frail-looking to lift such hefty blades. To add to her child-like appearance, her jacket's size would indicate that she's either too small for the smallest size available or she's wearing one of Kolga's jackets. Regardless, the emphasis on Midack's age just shows how Kolga is taking advantage of the "blind devotion" a child has for her. It's a similar sort of devotion that got the Midack of legend killed, so let's hope this doesn't come down to something like that. Kolga hopefully isn't Midack's way of handling her daddy issues, but she probably is. If something happens to Kolga, she'll probably make good use of those murder-shoes (link not for the faint of heart).
Power Plays
Thanks to Baldini, we'll be adding the power plays (better late than never).
OG Midack
The first Power Play is a an event Power Play for all the various track units. In the spirit of competition, these units raise each other's attack strength.
Sadbh, Fionn, Kolga, Grainne, Daire, Oisin, Mona, Caoilte, Lumina, Lugaid
Remix Midack
Remix Midack shares a health boost Power Play with the other Remix units. The catch is that you have to be using at least 3 of them to get the chance to proc the boost. Here's your shopping list: Scathach, Asmodeus, Kasha, Mammon, Tishtrya, Siduri, Rusalka, Marguerite, Tesso, Flauros, Grainne, Bennu, Aklys, Grimalkin
