Hey guys.i have asked my union how to use scrolls, but where the chat is limited to 80 characters,I can't understand what they mean.do I use it to level up a unit, and if so do I use it on its own, like a grimoire.the instructions seem to say that it's used to make the other enhancing units&grimoires add more levels when enhancing, but I don't think that's right.my union says trade it for a p7 or level up a p7.how many levels does it add?I expect this is explained on here somewhere but I'm new using the forum too. The other question is are any of the cards you can exchange for medals(not platinum medals) worth getting for my deck Thanks in advance.
Scrolls are used to level up a unit's ability. Take Swimsuit Ba'al for example. Her ability is Overdrive, and when you first get her it will be at level 1/8. It will take 14 turns for her Overdrive to be ready, but by levelling it you can decrease the turn requirement by 1 turn per level up. This means that, at level 8, it will only take 7 turns for her ability to be ready in Quests. You can level abilities using 3 stars and higher, or the more common (and generally cost-efficient) method of Scrolls.
Scroll I: 20% chance to level up ability (cheapest, going for about 10 pots each. Readily available from event rewards and pack bonuses)
Scroll II: 50% chance to level up ability (a bit more expensive, going for at least around 30AP+30BP pots each. Also common, coming from event rewards and pack bonuses like Scroll Is)
Scroll III: 100% chance to level up ability (fairly uncommon, as they aren't rewarded very often anymore. Definitely not cost efficient given their rarity)
You can combine these together to reach a guaranteed 100%, for example two Scroll IIs (50 percentx2=100percent) or 5 Scroll Is (20percentx5=100percent). If you want to take a risk, you can also do two Scroll Is and a Scroll II (20percentx2+50percent=90percent), but that means that there's a 10% chance that your ability won't level up, wasting the Scrolls you used in the attempt. Exceeding 100 percent will give a chance to level up more than once in a single enhancing session. For example, by using 3 Scroll IIs (50percentx3=150percent), you'd be guaranteed a level up, and a 50 percent chance for a second level up. Unlike levelling up a unit itself through experience, where there is an experience bar and you can be partway to levelling up, Scrolls are all or nothing (you either level up or you don't). So in the example of the 3 Scroll IIs, if the second level up failed, you wouldn't be halfway to the next ability level.
You cannot/should not use Scrolls on units and grimoires that you do not intend to use as a permanent/long-term addition to your quest decks (abilities are irrelevant in defense). Instead, I would highly recommend saving it for plats that you don't see yourself replacing, such as the plat element boosters (Xmas Meru, Remix Guna, Jiang Ziya, Ruprecht) and your damage dealers. Units do not retain their ability levels when traded on the bazaar, so levelling up the abilities of normal 7 stars is generally not worth it unless you can afford it, it's useful, and you don't plan to sell them away.
Your union is incorrect in saying that you can trade them for platinum 7 stars. Plats are untradable, after all. When they meant to level up a plat, I think they were referring to their ability. Even then, you shouldn't blindly level up the ability of every plat unless it's useful.
Lastly, no, none of the medal exchange cards are worth it. Use those medals to exchange for BP/AP Pots or cache/armory space (as needed).
