Did you guys know that you can use BBCode to prettify your posts? No? You don't even know what BBCode is? Awh...
BBCode or Bulletin Board Code is a lightweight markup language used to format posts in many message boards. We do not allow users to post HTML inside their posts, but BBCode is okay. BBCode can be thought as special words which made things in the forum works beyond mere texts. Actually, you are already using BBCode each time you use the buttons located in the top bar of this editor. If you want to switch to use BBCode instead of the editor, then press the BBCode tab in the bottom of editor instead of Preview.
BBCode consists of collection of tags, which uses square brackets ([]) to enclose the code. For example, b is a tag used to bold texts. Each tag also has a pair made of same code, although started with / symbol. This is called the closing tag. So a b tag will be paired with a /b closing tag, and all the texts in between them would be written in bold. Here's an example.
Note that how your posts display might differs between regular version and mobile version. The theme applied in this forum is not brought to the mobile, which uses its own unmodified theme. Because of technical difficulties, we cannot change the mobile theme and so please take caution.
Fantastic Tags and How to Use Them
I planned to make a list of tags but ended up realizing that the tags used in proboards is the same one for HTML...so, here's a list of HTML tags instead.
Click here to see the HTML tags!
What you need to do is just use square brackets [] instead of angle brackets <> for the codes and it'll work just as intended in HTML. Not all HTML tags will work though, just the ones used for contents. Maybe in the future I'll put all the available tags here, bu for now just experiments around.
Attributes inside BBCode
A neat feature of Proboards BBCode is the ability to include HTML attributes inside of the tags, just like in regular HTML. Not all attributes are available for the tag, but a few of them can provides workaround for you to create some new inventions.
You can learn more about HTML attributes here.
For example, this is how you use the title attributes in your tag. Adding title attributes in your tag allows you to show simple text whenever user hover over the text inside the tag.
And this is the result, which I had made through BBCode editor.
If you are familiar with CSS, you can ramp it even further by adding inline styles to your tags. This allows for very-customized posts if you're patient enough. Here's some example.
And this is the result.
